Research Facility in Assam State Archives

Description

Overview:
The Assam State Archives provides research facilities to research scholars and other general public. Under the existing rules regulating research work, all records which are 25 five years old are open for consultation by scholars. The scholars can avail photocopies of documents on payment. In certain cases, they are allowed to use a digital camera to photograph the brittle and damaged files on payment.

Working Hours:
Timing: 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Working Days: Every working day except Sunday, second and fourth Saturday and notified government holiday.

Research Rules:
For Indian Scholars:
Indian Research Scholars are required to submit a letter of recommendation from their sponsoring University/Institution/Department. Permission would be initially granted for three months and extended thereafter, as required.

For Foreign Scholars:
Foreign Research Scholars are required to submit a letter of recommendation from their sponsoring University/Institution/Departments as well as a letter of introduction from the Embassy/High Commission of their Country in India. Permission would be initially granted for three months and extended thereafter, as required.
